Specificity: The antibody recognises the B epitope of the mouse Lyt-3 (CD8) antigen.
Has been used in CD8 subset depletion in vivo and flow cytometry studies.
Target Information
The CD8B antigen is a cell surface glycoprotein found on most cytotoxic T lymphocytes that mediates efficient cell-cell interactions within the immune system.
The CD8 antigen acts as a coreceptor with the T-cell receptor to recognize antigens presented by APCs in the context of class I MHC molecules.
The functional coreceptor can be either a homodimer (two alpha chains) or a heterodimer (one alpha and one beta chain).
Both chains share significant homology to immunoglobulin variable light chains.
This gene encodes the CD8 beta chain isoforms, with multiple alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding distinct membrane-associated or secreted isoforms.
A pseudogene located on chromosome 2 has also been identified.
