Target Information
Kallikreins are a subgroup of serine proteases with diverse physiological functions. Many kallikreins are implicated in carcinogenesis and may serve as novel cancer and disease biomarkers. The KLK1 gene is one of fifteen kallikrein subfamily members clustered on chromosome 19. This protein releases the vasoactive peptide Lys-bradykinin from low molecular weight kininogen and is functionally conserved.
