PA3-200 detects human and rat SIRT2 and shows no cross-reactivity to other SIRT isoforms.
It has been successfully used in Western blot and immunocytochemistry procedures.
By Western blot, this antibody detects an ~48 kDa protein representing SIRT2 from SAOS2 cells.
The immunizing peptide corresponds to amino acid residues 341–352 from the human SIRT2 protein, a sequence completely conserved between human and rat.

Target Information

SIRT2 (Sirtuin for Silent Mating Type Information 2-Homolog) is a NAD-dependent deacetylase (NDAC) involved in gene silencing, cell cycle control, and DNA damage repair.
It may act as a tumor suppressor in human gliomas and serve as a molecular marker for these cells.
SIRT2 also functions as a redox sensor regulating muscle gene expression in response to food intake and exercise.
During mitosis, SIRT2 participates in the phosphorylation cascade, being phosphorylated in late G2 phase, M phase, and cytokinesis.
