Target Information
Aurora kinases are associated with microtubules during chromosome movement and segregation. Aurora B (AURKB) localizes to microtubules near kinetochores, particularly to K-fibers. This complex is involved in chromosome alignment, separation, histone modification, and cytokinesis. The chromosomal passenger complex (CPC) includes INCENP, survivin, and borealin, which regulate Aurora B activity and localization. Aurora B is often overexpressed in tumors such as breast and colon cancers, and its expression correlates with Aurora-A kinase, suggesting a feedback relationship.
