Target Information
TAS2R8 belongs to the family of candidate taste receptors within the G-protein-coupled receptor superfamily. These receptors are expressed in taste receptor cells of the tongue and palate epithelia and are involved in bitter taste perception. The gene maps to chromosome 12p13 and signals through PLCB2 and TRPM5 channels. Expression is restricted to gustducin-positive cells in taste receptor tissues.
