Target Information
RAB5 belongs to the small GTPase Rab family, key regulators of intracellular membrane trafficking—from vesicle formation to membrane fusion.
Rabs cycle between an inactive GDP-bound form and an active GTP-bound form, recruiting downstream effectors responsible for vesicle formation, movement, tethering, and fusion.
RAB5A is required for plasma membrane and early endosome fusion, regulates filopodia extension, exosomal release (SDCBP, CD63, PDCD6IP, syndecan), and maturation of apoptotic cell-containing phagosomes downstream of DYN2 and PIK3C3.
