Target Information
The SP4 gene belongs to the Sp1-related transcription factor family that regulates gene expression by binding to GC- and GT-box elements. The protein contains a zinc finger DNA-binding domain and multiple transactivation domains, functioning as a bifunctional transcription factor that can either activate or repress transcription of various genes. Several transcript variants and isoforms have been identified, including one initiating translation from a non-AUG (AUA) codon. A related pseudogene is located on chromosome 13.
