Target Information

Podocalyxin-like protein 2 (PODXL2) is a CD34 family member expressed by podocytes, vascular endothelium, mesothelium, and certain hematopoietic progenitors. It is a major sialoprotein in the glycocalyx of glomerular podocytes. While its role in leukemic blasts is not fully known, PODXL2 is considered a candidate gene for prostate cancer aggressiveness and serves as a complementary surface marker to CD34 for identifying hemangioblasts, precursors of hematopoietic and endothelial cells.
