Target Information
Alkaline phosphatase (ALP) is a homodimeric enzyme (86 kDa) containing two zinc atoms per monomer essential for catalytic activity. It is optimally active at alkaline pH and found across prokaryotic and eukaryotic species with structural variations suited to each organism. ALP plays roles in liver metabolism and skeletal development. In bacteria, it serves as a source of inorganic phosphate, and in yeast, it is useful for studying membrane protein sorting.
