Target Information
CCR8 encodes a member of the beta chemokine receptor family, predicted to be a seven-transmembrane protein similar to G protein-coupled receptors. Chemokines and their receptors are crucial for cell migration to inflammatory sites. This receptor is preferentially expressed in the thymus, and its ligands include I-309, TARC, and MIP-1β.
CCR8 plays a role in monocyte chemotaxis and thymic cell apoptosis, contributing to the positioning of activated T cells within antigenic challenge sites and lymphoid tissues. Expression has been reported in spleen, thymus, NK cells, monocytes, T cells, and at lower levels in peripheral blood leukocytes.
