Target Information
CAMK4 (CaMKIV) is a serine/threonine protein kinase that phosphorylates CREB, oncoprotein 18, and SRF. It plays a role in transcriptional regulation in lymphocytes, neurons, and male germ cells. The nuclear localization of CaMKIV supports its function in calcium-dependent gene expression. It is abundant in testis, T-cells, and neurons, and is involved in synaptic plasticity and calcium signaling affecting NFAT activity. In testes, CaMKIV is associated with chromatin, suggesting a role in chromatin remodeling during spermatid nuclear condensation.
