Target Information
The IRS2 (Insulin Receptor Substrate 2) gene encodes a cytoplasmic signaling molecule that mediates effects of insulin, insulin-like growth factor 1 (IGF1), and other cytokines. It acts as a molecular adaptor between receptor tyrosine kinases and downstream effectors. The IRS-2 protein is phosphorylated by the insulin receptor tyrosine kinase upon receptor stimulation, and also by an interleukin 4 receptor-associated kinase in response to IL4 treatment.
