This antibody recognizes an extracellular common epitope on the beta-chain of human HLA-DR and HLA-DP.
DR and DP are isotypes of human MHC Class II molecules expressed on antigen-presenting cells (APC) such as dendritic cells, B lymphocytes, monocytes, and macrophages.

Target Information

HLA-DRA is one of the HLA class II alpha chain paralogues. This molecule is a heterodimer consisting of an alpha and beta chain, both membrane-anchored, and plays a central role in the immune system by presenting peptides derived from extracellular proteins.
Class II molecules are expressed in antigen-presenting cells (APC: B lymphocytes, dendritic cells, macrophages).
The alpha chain (33–35 kDa) gene contains 5 exons: exon 1 encodes the leader peptide, exons 2–3 the extracellular domains, and exon 4 the transmembrane and cytoplasmic regions.
DRA lacks polymorphisms in the peptide-binding region and serves as the sole alpha chain for DRB1, DRB3, DRB4, and DRB5.
HLA and MHC antibodies are essential in Immunopeptidomics, aiding in the identification and characterization of neoantigens via HPLC-MS/MS.
