This antibody detects endogenous levels of PLCG2 only when phosphorylated at Tyr759.
Target Information
Phosphoinositide-specific phospholipase C (PLC) plays a crucial role in receptor-mediated signal transduction by generating two second messengers, inositol 1,4,5-triphosphate and diacylglycerol, from phosphatidylinositol 4,5-bisphosphate.
There are multiple mammalian PLC isozymes, including:
- PLC beta1, beta2, beta3, beta4
- PLC gamma1, gamma2
- PLC delta1, delta2
- PLC epsilon
PLC delta1 functions as a calcium signal amplifier and is activated by an atypical GTP-binding protein. It also acts as an effector for transglutaminase II-mediated oxytocin receptor and alpha1B-adrenoreceptor signaling.
Mouse PLC delta1 is highly expressed in brain, heart, lung, and testis. Abnormal accumulation of PLC delta has been observed in Alzheimer’s disease brains, suggesting a possible role in AD pathology.
PLC delta2 is markedly expressed in type II intestinal metaplasia and adenocarcinoma, and its expression may serve as a potential marker for gastric malignant transformation.
