This antibody is specific for mouse EBI3 protein. BLAST analysis suggests cross-reactivity with EBI3 from mouse sources based on 100% homology with the immunizing sequence. Cross-reactivity with EBI3 from other species has not been determined.

Target Information

EBI3 (Epstein-Barr virus Induced-3) is a secreted glycoprotein of the hematopoietin receptor family. It plays a regulatory role in Th2-type immune responses and Th2-mediated tissue inflammation, possibly through control of iNKT cell function.
EBI3 forms dimers with IL-12 subunits p28 and p35 to create IL-27 and IL-35, respectively. IL-27, produced upon TLR ligation, negatively regulates Th17 differentiation.
EBI3 expression in dendritic cells is regulated by TLR signaling via MyD88 and NF-kappaB. It inhibits delayed-type hypersensitivity responses by suppressing IL-17 and inducing IL-10.
EBI3 may also play a role in tumor metastasis control via lung CD8+ T cells, and its deficiency is linked to reduced Th2 cytokine production associated with allergic airway inflammation.
