Target Information
The protein encoded by this gene is an orphan receptor containing a putative ligand-binding domain but lacking a conventional DNA-binding domain. It belongs to the nuclear hormone receptor family, which includes transcription factors regulated by small hydrophobic hormones. Some members, including NR0B2, are orphan receptors with no known ligands. The protein interacts with retinoid, thyroid, and estrogen receptors, inhibiting their ligand-dependent transcriptional activation. It represses nuclear hormone receptor-mediated transactivation through competition with coactivators and direct transcriptional repressor functions.
