Target Information
The protein encoded by the NR0B2 gene is an orphan nuclear receptor that contains a putative ligand-binding domain but lacks a conventional DNA-binding domain. It belongs to the nuclear hormone receptor family, which includes transcription factors regulated by small hydrophobic hormones. This protein interacts with retinoid and thyroid hormone receptors, inhibiting their ligand-dependent transcriptional activation. It also interacts with estrogen receptors, leading to inhibition of their function. Studies suggest that NR0B2 represses nuclear hormone receptor-mediated transactivation through competition with coactivators and direct transcriptional repression.
