Product Specific Information

  • 1 µg/mL of MA5-45618 detects Alpha-2C Adrenergic Receptor in 20 µg of COS cells transiently transfected with HA-tagged Alpha lysate by colorimetric immunoblot using goat anti-mouse IgG:HRP as secondary antibody.
  • Detects 50 kDa or larger (possibly due to dimerization).
  • Does not cross-react with other adrenergic receptors.
  • Formerly sold as clone S330A-80.

Target Information

Alpha-2-adrenergic receptors are G protein-coupled receptors with three subtypes: alpha2A, alpha2B, and alpha2C.
They regulate neurotransmitter release from sympathetic nerves and adrenergic neurons in the CNS.
Mouse studies show both alpha2A and alpha2C are required for normal presynaptic control of transmitter release.
The alpha2A subtype inhibits release at high stimulation frequencies, while alpha2C modulates neurotransmission at lower activity levels.
This gene encodes the alpha2C subtype, containing no introns in either coding or untranslated regions.
