Target Information
Interleukin 12A (IL-12A) is a signaling cytokine in the Interleukin-6 superfamily. The IL-12 alpha chain precursor (p35) forms a 35-kD subunit of the IL-12 heterodimer and exhibits diverse biological activities. IL-12A functions as a growth factor for activated T and NK cells, enhances NK cell cytolytic activity, and stimulates IFN-gamma production. It contributes to Th1 and Th2 differentiation and regulates Stat4 phosphorylation. IL-12A also participates in innate immune signaling requiring nitric oxide synthase 2A. Together with EBI3, IL-12A forms interleukin-35 (IL-35), a cytokine produced by regulatory T cells with suppressive functions.
