Target Information
RPS6KB1 (p70S6K) is a serine/threonine kinase with two non-identical kinase catalytic domains that phosphorylates several residues of the S6 ribosomal protein. p70 S6 kinase is predominantly localized in the cytoplasm and plays a key role in growth factor–regulated cell proliferation, motility, immune response, and tissue repair. It acts downstream of PI3-kinase, with its main physiological target being the S6 ribosomal protein, involved in upregulation of protein synthesis. Amplification and overexpression of p70 S6 kinase are observed in some breast cancer cell lines.
