Target Information
The DENR gene encodes a protein whose expression increases in cultured cells at high density but not during growth arrest. Expression is elevated in cells overexpressing the HER-2/neu proto-oncogene. The protein contains an SUI1 domain, which in budding yeast functions as a translation initiation factor directing the ribosome to the correct translation start site. Similar SUI1-like proteins are found in mammals, insects, and plants.
