Target Information
Component of the Polycomb group (PcG) multiprotein PRC1 complex, required to maintain transcriptional repression of many genes (including Hox genes) through development.
PRC1 complex mediates chromatin remodeling and monoubiquitination of histone H2A (Lys-119), resulting in heritable changes in gene expression.
Within PRC1, BMI1 stimulates the E3 ubiquitin-protein ligase activity of RNF2/RING2.
