Target Information
The SERPINB8 (Protease inhibitor-8, PI8) protein belongs to the superfamily of high molecular weight serine proteinase inhibitors. A critical portion of the molecule, the reactive center loop, connects beta sheets A and C. SERPINB8 is part of the ov-serpin subfamily, characterized by high homology to chicken ovalbumin, absence of N- and C-terminal extensions, lack of a signal peptide, and a serine residue at the penultimate position instead of asparagine.
