Target Information
This gene belongs to the subfamily of ubiquitously expressed heterogeneous nuclear ribonucleoproteins (hnRNPs). The hnRNPs are RNA-binding proteins that complex with heterogeneous nuclear RNA and are involved in pre-mRNA processing such as alternative splicing, polyadenylation, and mRNA transport.
The hnRNP F protein contains three quasi-RRM domains that bind to guanosine-rich RNA sequences and is similar to hnRPH. Multiple alternatively spliced variants encoding the same protein have been identified.
