Antibody detects endogenous levels of total CCR4.

Target Information

CCR4 is a chemokine receptor preferentially expressed on type 2 helper T (Th2-type) cells. Its expression, along with CCR8, is transiently increased following TCR and CD28 engagement. Activated Th1 cells also up-regulate CCR4 expression and responsiveness to thymus- and activation-regulated chemokine.
Chemokines are small (approximately 8–14 kD), mostly basic molecules that regulate leukocyte trafficking via 7-transmembrane, G protein-coupled receptors. They play essential roles in immune system development, homeostasis, and function, and also affect CNS and endothelial cells involved in angiogenesis or angiostasis.
Chemokines are divided into two major subfamilies, CXC and CC, based on cysteine residue arrangements: adjacent cysteines in CC chemokines and one amino acid separation in CXC chemokines.
