LRFN 단백질은 Slitrk 단백질군과 유사한 leucine-rich repeat (LRR)–immunoglobulin-like (Ig)–fibronectin type III (Fn)–transmembrane 구조를 공유합니다.
LRFN1, -3, -4 mRNA는 배아 신경세포에서, LRFN2 및 LRFN5는 성숙한 세포에서 주로 발현됩니다.
LRFN1, -2, -4는 PSD95의 PDZ 도메인과 결합하여 PSD95를 세포 주변부로 재분포시키는 것으로 알려져 있습니다.
이 단백질군은 척추동물의 신경계 발달 및 기능 유지에 관여할 것으로 제안됩니다.
