MA5-15446 targets CD33 in indirect ELISA and Western blot applications, showing reactivity with human samples.
The immunogen is a purified recombinant fragment of CD33 (amino acids 48–258) expressed in E. coli.

Target Information

CD33 is a transmembrane protein of the sialic acid-binding immunoglobulin-like lectin (Siglec) family. It contains immunoreceptor tyrosine-based inhibitory motifs (ITIMs) that recruit protein tyrosine phosphatases SHP-1 and SHP-2 for signal transduction. These ITIMs also mediate ubiquitin-dependent receptor removal from the cell surface.

CD33 is expressed on cells of the myelomonocytic lineage, binds sialic acid residues on cell surface glycans, and serves as a therapeutic target for acute myeloid leukemia (AML). It is found on granulocyte and macrophage precursors in bone marrow but not on pluripotent stem cells. CD33 is also expressed on peripheral monocytes and serves as a marker distinguishing myelogenous leukemia from lymphoid or erythroid leukemias.

Diseases associated with CD33 dysfunction include gallbladder lymphoma and extracutaneous mastocytoma.
