Target Information
TNFRSF14 is a member of the TNF-receptor superfamily and acts as a cellular mediator of herpes simplex virus (HSV) entry. Binding of HSV envelope glycoprotein D (gD) to TNFRSF14 facilitates viral entry. The cytoplasmic region interacts with TRAF family members, mediating signal transduction pathways that activate immune responses. In T cells, TNFRSF14 activation promotes proliferation and cytokine production, leading to inflammation and enhanced CTL-mediated tumor immunity. Multiple alternatively spliced transcript variants exist, though not all full-length forms have been characterized.
