Product Specific Information

A 1:1,000 dilution of MA5-27560 was sufficient for detection of Malondialdehyde in 2 µg of Malondialdehyde conjugated to BSA by ECL immunoblot analysis using Goat Anti-Mouse IgG:HRP as the secondary antibody.
Specific for Malondialdehyde conjugated proteins. Does not detect free Malondialdehyde.
Does not cross-react with Acrolein, Crotonaldehyde, Hexanoyl Lysine, 4-Hydroxy-2-hexenal, 4-Hydroxy nonenal, or Methylglyoxal modified proteins.

Target Information

Malondialdehyde (CH₂(CHO)₂) is a byproduct of lipid metabolism and a highly reactive electrophile species that induces toxic stress in cells. It forms covalent protein adducts known as advanced lipoxidation end products (ALE).
It also forms mutagenic DNA adducts when reacting with deoxyadenosine and deoxyguanosine.
Malondialdehyde is found in many foods and is present in high levels in rancid foods.
