Target Information
The protein encoded by this gene is part of the eIF4F protein complex, which participates in mRNA cap recognition and transport of mRNAs to the ribosome. A microRNA (miR-520c-3p) has been shown to negatively regulate synthesis of this protein, leading to decreased protein translation and reduced cell proliferation. This protein is thus a key component of the anti-tumor activity associated with miR-520c-3p.
