Product Specific Information
This antibody recognizes the bovine CD80 cell surface antigen, expressed by dendritic cells, activated macrophages, and activated B cells. CD80 plays a key role in co-stimulation of T cells during the primary immune response.
Target Information
CD80 (B7-1) and CD86 (B7-2) are ligands of the T cell costimulatory molecule CD28 and the inhibitory receptor CTLA-4 (CD152). Both are expressed on professional antigen-presenting cells and are essential for T cell activation. CD80 is rapidly induced on activated B cells, EBV-transformed B cell lines, Burkitt’s lymphoma cells, follicular B lymphoma cells, T cells, and monocytes. The B-lymphocyte activation antigen B7-1 provides regulatory signals for T lymphocytes via binding to CD28 and CTLA4. Diseases associated with CD80 dysfunction include gallbladder squamous cell carcinoma and myocarditis.
