SPHK1는 SPHK2와 함께 sphingosine의 인산화를 촉매하여 sphingosine-1-phosphate (S1P)를 생성합니다. S1P는 G-단백질 결합 수용체를 통해 신호를 전달하며, 세포 분화, 칼슘 이동, 그리고 세포사멸과 같은 다양한 세포 과정에 관여합니다. SPHK 억제제는 암 치료를 위한 잠재적 치료제로 연구되고 있습니다. S1P는 세포 내외에서 신호전달 분자로 작용하며, sphingolipid 대사체인 ceramide 및 sphingosine과 유사한 역할을 합니다. S1P 수용체는 EDG 계열의 G 단백질 결합 수용체입니다.
