Target Information
Peroxiredoxin (Prx) is a growing peroxidase family associated with cell proliferation, differentiation, and apoptosis. Mammalian Prxs, consisting of six members, are classified into typical 2-Cys, atypical 2-Cys, and 1-Cys subgroups. Except for Prx VI (1-Cys), the other five 2-Cys Prx isotypes possess thioredoxin-dependent peroxidase (TPx) activity. Mammalian Prxs (20–30 kDa) vary in subcellular localization: Prx I, II, and VI in cytosol; Prx III in mitochondria; Prx IV in ER and secretion; Prx V in peroxisome, mitochondria, and cytosol.
