Target Information
The SP3 gene belongs to a family of Sp1-related genes encoding transcription factors that regulate gene expression by binding to GC- and GT-box regulatory elements. The protein contains a zinc finger DNA-binding domain and multiple transactivation domains, functioning as a bifunctional transcription factor that can either activate or repress transcription. Several transcript variants and isoforms have been identified, including one initiating translation from a non-AUG codon. A related pseudogene exists on chromosome 13.
