This product is preservative-free. It is recommended to add sodium azide to avoid contamination (final concentration 0.05%–0.1%).

Recombinant rabbit monoclonal antibodies are produced using in vitro expression systems. The expression systems are developed by cloning specific antibody DNA sequences from immunoreactive rabbits, followed by screening to select optimal clones for production.

This antibody specifically recognizes Human CD33/Siglec-3.

Target Information

CD33 is a transmembrane protein belonging to the sialic acid-binding immunoglobulin-like lectin (Siglec) family. It contains immunoreceptor tyrosine-based inhibitory motifs (ITIMs) that recruit protein tyrosine phosphatases SHP-1 and SHP-2 for signal regulation and receptor internalization.

CD33 is expressed on myelomonocytic lineage cells, binds sialic acid residues on cell surface glycans, and serves as a therapeutic target for acute myeloid leukemia (AML). It is present on granulocyte and macrophage precursors in bone marrow but absent from pluripotent stem cells. CD33 is also a marker for peripheral monocytes and is useful for distinguishing myelogenous leukemia from lymphoid or erythroid leukemias.

Diseases associated with CD33 dysfunction include gallbladder lymphoma and extracutaneous mastocytoma.
