Target Information
YBX1 binds to splice sites in pre-mRNA and regulates splice site selection. It stabilizes cytoplasmic mRNA and modulates translation by interacting with eukaryotic initiation factors. YBX1 also binds to promoters containing a Y-box sequence (5'-CTGATTGGCCAA-3'), such as HLA class II genes, and regulates transcription of numerous genes. It promotes separation of mismatched or cisplatin-modified DNA strands and exhibits endonucleolytic activity that introduces nicks or breaks into double-stranded DNA, potentially contributing to DNA repair.
