Target Information
YBX1 binds to splice sites in pre-mRNA and regulates splice site selection. It stabilizes cytoplasmic mRNA and modulates translation by influencing interactions with eukaryotic initiation factors. YBX1 binds to promoters containing a Y-box sequence (5'-CTGATTGGCCAA-3'), such as HLA class II genes, and regulates transcription of numerous genes. It promotes separation of DNA strands with mismatches or cisplatin modifications, exhibits endonucleolytic activity, and may play a role in DNA repair.
