Glutathione S-transferase (GST) is a 26 kDa protein present in both eukaryotes and prokaryotes, catalyzing a variety of reactions. GST is often used in the GST gene fusion system, allowing purification via high affinity for glutathione. These GST-fusion proteins are valuable tools for studying direct protein-to-protein interactions. The GST gene fusion system has been introduced into numerous expression vectors.
