Product Specific Information

1 µg/mL was sufficient for detection of LAMP1 in rat liver microsome by ECL immunoblot analysis. Detects approximately 120 kDa.

Target Information

LAMP1 (CD107a, lysosome-associated membrane protein-1) is a major constituent of the lysosomal membrane, with 1–2% also found on the plasma membrane. It is a heavily glycosylated type I integral membrane protein containing a signal peptide, multiple N-linked glycosylation sites, a transmembrane segment, and a short cytosolic tail. LAMP1 and LAMP2 are involved in lysosome biogenesis and fusion with phagosomes. Upon cell activation, LAMP1 translocates to the plasma membrane, a process dependent on a carboxyl-terminal tyrosine-based motif (YXXI). Mutations disrupting this motif alter lysosomal localization. Cell surface LAMP1 promotes adhesion of PBMCs to vascular endothelium, suggesting a role in inflammation. Increased LAMP1 expression is seen in neurons and glial cells near senile plaques in Alzheimer’s disease and in thymic epithelial cells during acute involution. LAMP1 serves as a marker of mast cell activation.
