Target Information
TSC22 domain family protein (TSC22) is a transcription factor belonging to the early response gene family. It acts as a transcriptional repressor on the C-type natriuretic peptide (CNP) promoter and is part of the TSC-22/Dip/Bun family. TSC22 is found in the cytoplasm or nucleus and regulates cell growth, differentiation, and apoptosis. It modulates Smad3 and Smad4 transcriptional activity and is expressed widely in fetal and adult tissues, particularly in aortic endothelial cells. Expression is induced by cytokines including TGFB. TSC22 proteins are potential therapeutic targets for leukemia and prostate cancer.
