• Tested in direct ELISA (use antibody at 2–4 µg/mL for coating).
• For immunohistochemistry (PFA-fixed): incubate antibody for 30 min at room temperature.
• Staining of formalin-fixed tissues requires heating sections in 10 mM Tris with 1 mM EDTA, pH 9.0, for 45 min at 95°C, followed by cooling at room temperature for 20 minutes.

Target Information

Transferrins (Tf) are approximately 80 kDa blood plasma glycoproteins synthesized by the liver. They function as iron-binding transport proteins capable of binding two Fe(3+) ions with associated bicarbonate. Transferrin transports iron from absorption and degradation sites to storage and utilization sites. Under normal conditions, about one-third of total blood transferrin contains bound iron. Blood transferrin measurement indicates iron-carrying capacity and can reveal abnormalities such as anemia, iron overload, and hemochromatosis. Serum transferrin may also stimulate cell proliferation.
