CD16 encodes a receptor that recognizes the Fc portion of immunoglobulin G and plays a role in immune complex clearance, antibody-dependent cellular cytotoxicity, and viral infection enhancement.
FCGR3A shares high similarity with FCGR3B located on chromosome 1.
