LEF1 유전자는 high mobility group protein-1과 상동성을 공유하는 전사 인자를 암호화합니다. 이 단백질은 T-cell receptor-alpha enhancer의 기능적으로 중요한 부위에 결합하여 최대 enhancer 활성을 부여합니다. Wnt 신호 전달 경로에 관여하며, 모낭 형성과 모세포 분화에 기능할 수 있습니다. 이 유전자의 돌연변이는 피지선 종양 및 여러 암(예: 안드로겐 비의존성 전립선암)과 관련이 있습니다. 대체 스플라이싱으로 여러 전사 변이체가 생성됩니다.
