Target Information
Protein Kinase C (PKC) isoforms are serine/threonine kinases involved in signal transduction pathways that regulate differentiation, proliferation, gene expression, brain function, membrane transport, and cytoskeletal organization.
PKC plays a key role in cell cycle transitions (G1 and G2 checkpoints) and can act as either a positive or negative regulator depending on activation timing and isozyme type.
At least 12 PKC isoforms are known in humans, including alpha, beta I, beta II, gamma, delta, epsilon, zeta, eta, theta, iota, lambda, and mu.
PKC beta II is expressed in cardiac muscle, intestinal epithelium, kidney, and pancreas, and is involved in cell cycle progression and cancer proliferation.
