Target Information
STRAP is a 350 amino acid MAP activator with WD-40 repeats localized in both cytoplasm and nucleus. It acts as an inhibitor of TGF-beta signaling and regulates cell proliferation. Stable expression of STRAP activates the MAPK/ERK pathway and downregulates p21 (Cip1), leading to retinoblastoma protein hyperphosphorylation. Upregulation of STRAP is associated with early tumorigenesis in colorectal cancers. It also plays a key role in U snRNP assembly with the SMN complex, influencing intracellular SMN1 distribution.
