Target Information
KDR (FLK1, VEGFR2) is a type III receptor tyrosine kinase that binds vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) with high affinity. It is expressed early in development by endothelial cell precursors.
FLK1 (VEGF Receptor 2) encodes one of the two receptors of VEGF and plays a key role in vascular development and angiogenesis. The receptor’s signaling and trafficking are regulated by factors such as Rab GTPase, P2Y purine nucleotide receptor, integrin αVβ3, and T-cell protein tyrosine phosphatase. Mutations in FLK1 (VEGF Receptor 2) have been implicated in infantile capillary hemangiomas.
