Target Information
Deubiquitinase that mediates deubiquitination of target proteins such as BECN1, MITF, SKP2, and USP10. It participates in processes including autophagy and endoplasmic reticulum-associated degradation (ERAD). USP13 is part of a regulatory loop controlling autophagy and p53/TP53 levels by stabilizing PIK3C3/VPS34-containing complexes and deubiquitinating USP10. It also mediates deubiquitination of SKP2 and UBL4A, regulating ERAD. Additionally, USP13 stabilizes SIAH2 independently of deubiquitinase activity by impairing SIAH2 autoubiquitination. It has weak deubiquitinase activity in vitro and preferentially cleaves Lys-63-linked polyubiquitin chains. It can cleave ISG15 in vitro, though further confirmation is needed. [UniProt]
