Target Information
U2 auxiliary factor (U2AF), composed of large and small subunits, is a non-snRNP protein required for U2 snRNP binding to the pre-mRNA branch site.
The large subunit contains a sequence-specific RNA-binding region with three RNA recognition motifs and an Arg/Ser-rich domain essential for splicing.
It binds to the polypyrimidine tract of introns early during spliceosome assembly.
Multiple transcript variants have been detected, with two full-length forms characterized to date.
