Target Information
CD25 (IL2 receptor alpha chain, IL2RA) is a cytokine receptor involved in T and B lymphocyte proliferation.
The IL2 receptor is a heterotrimeric complex composed of IL2RA, IL2RB, and IL2RG chains, forming a high-affinity receptor.
Homodimeric IL2RA results in low-affinity binding, while IL2RB homodimers yield medium-affinity interaction.
IL2 expression in mature thymocytes is monoallelic, ensuring precise gene regulation.
IL2 is produced mainly by mature T cells and acts as a growth and differentiation factor, enhancing B cell proliferation, NK cell activity, and inhibiting granulocyte macrophage colony formation.
Disruption of similar genes in mice leads to ulcerative colitis-like disease, suggesting a role in immune response regulation.
Mutations in IL2RA are associated with interleukin 2 receptor alpha deficiency.
