Product Specific Information

Reactivity occurs against human HR23A protein. BLAST analysis shows 100% sequence homology with human and rabbit HR23A proteins. Cross-reactivity with dog, mouse, and rat HR23A proteins may occur due to minor sequence differences. Reactivity with HR23A from other species is not known.

Target Information

The HR23A gene encodes a small iron-sulfur protein that transfers electrons from NADPH through ferredoxin reductase to cytochrome P450. This oxidation/reduction system is found in steroidogenic tissues and is involved in bile acid and vitamin D synthesis. The gene is located on chromosome 11q22, with pseudogenes on chromosomes 20 and 21. The protein is expressed in various tissues but is not tissue-specific.
